In this lesson we have a double negation in the sentence :
Je ne suis pas mécontent de rencontrer tes parents.
First negation is ne…pas. Second one is in the adjective : mécontent (the opposite of content, prefix mé- is a negative one). Be careful, two negations make a positive sentence. It means Je suis content. That’s why we translate it I'm happy. In French, in order to ask someone’s age we use the sentence : Quel âge as-tu ? or sometimes Tu as quel âge ? but the first one is the most common. The answer to that question is : J’ai 34 ans. Attention ! Notice that in English we say I am 34 years old using the verb to be. In French, we always use the verb avoir to express the age. And the word ans is always required after the number.
J’ai 34 ans
